So what’s the game all about? Well, you fold boxes. Both systems got a healthy serving of these games on their downloadable storefronts and one of the best of the lot is DSiWare’s Art Style: Box Life. One of my favorite Nintendo franchises of the DS and Wii era was surprisingly enough, their artistic puzzle game set labeled as the Art Style games here in North America. A great game to have in your back pocket for sure. I don’t know how many times I would start up a round of Birds & Beans thinking I would just need to kill a few minutes and ended up playing for way longer. This made it the perfect candidate for a quick port over to the DSiWare service as Birds & Beans easy to pick up and play but its extremely addictive nature made it perfect for quick, ‘on the go’ gaming sessions.

Let’s stick with the WarioWare series for our next entry as yes, Birds & Beans actually started its life as one of the many minigames included in the WarioWare titles, though usually as an unlockable ‘full length’ experience as compared to its microgame counterparts. Now I’m well aware that this game is a far cry from the much better WarioWare games out there and that in many ways it just shows off how weak the DSi’s 0.3-megapixel cameras actually were but when the stars align and the lighting is just right, this is actually a fun way to kill 10 minutes and get a few laughs in. And nowhere was this more evident with the DSiWare launch game, WarioWare: Snapped. Hoping to take a queue from the burgeoning smart device market, Nintendo added cameras to the standard DS frame not just to give users a way to take pictures of people and things around them but to have fun with them too. When the Nintendo DSi first hit the scene, its biggest selling feature was no doubt its two cameras. But of course, one day Nintendo will pull the plug on DSiWare, such is the fate of all digital stores, and so we’ve decided that this is the perfect time to take a look at the best DSiWare games of all time. Thankfully it appears that the delisting was simply an error and the games have now returned onto the eShop, ready to be played again. Now while the number of gamers still actively interested in DSiWare games in 2021 is surely not a ton it was still disconcerting to see these games disappear so suddenly, especially because so many of them have never been made available on a platform other than Nintendo’s decade-old storefront. A little while ago, gamers were given a bit of a scare as a handful of games suddenly and unexpectedly disappeared from the DSiWare shop on the Nintendo 3DS.
